Welcome to Everglades Academy

At Everglades Academy our philosophy is that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploration and discovery. Children are seen as individuals with a variety of developmental abilities, needs and interests, as well as different learning styles. Our school strives to encourage these qualities by providing a secure, nurturing environment for each child in our care.

At Everglades Academy, we offer days packed full of activities. All of our activities help the social, cognitive, physical and academic development of children. Kids learn best when they are having fun! We tailor our lessons plans to each child’s unique learning style. Whether your child is a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner, our activities will engage and inspire!

Children learn through hands on play and structured activities in our well organized learning centers. Our classrooms are organized into “learning environments.” These are the places within our classroom where the children can find the toys and materials related by theme, interest, and skills. These activities and toys can be used independently by the children, or with teacher direction, to reinforce and enrich skills and concepts they need. Learning environments are an excellent way to individualize the curriculum to meet the varying needs of young children.

We also believe that a child’s self-image is vital to his/or her growth and development. We work hard to help children develop a strong sense of independence and positive self-esteem. We also believe in helping the children to problem solve. By challenging children to try new things, explore new interests and praising their success, children begin to see themselves as capable and unique individuals.

We welcome you at Everglades Academy Preschool and thank you for visiting our website. Please feel free to contact us with any further inquiries.

“Everglades Academy is a unique preschool. We focus on teaching the child as a whole in a small and caring family environment. I believe every child should have the opportunity to explore, discover and learn in a safe and enriched play based setting. Our teachers genuinely care about each of our students. Our curriculum caters to each child’s individual needs. I want the work that we do to say something about who we are, what we feel and what we belive in. We are proud to be part of our community“

our philosophy

At Everglades Academy our philosophy is that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploration and discovery. At Everglades Academy, children are seen as individuals with a variety of different learning styles. Our school strives to encourage these qualities by providing a secure, nurturing environment for each child attending our school.

Everglades Academy was established in 2006 as a Developmental Preschool to satisfy a need for quality early childhood education in the west Pembroke Pines community. We understand that children learn best through play, interacting with materials, and discovery. Through play, children learn about the world around them and the community in which they live in, as well as the social skills and self-help skills that can encourage independence and self-esteem. The academic requirements for attending Kindergarten are also an important element in our Pre-K classrooms: letter recognition and proper letter formation, numbers, colors and shapes as well as journaling.

Our preschool program focuses on promoting independence and a positive self-concept through a developmentally appropriate curriculum. For example: our curriculum includes sharing and conversation time; stories, songs and finger play; creative art activities and crafts; games and large muscle activities; cooking and measuring; science and nature activities.

Our professional staff provides a high quality of developmentally appropriate materials and curriculum for children age 6 months-5 years as well as for our after school programs. Our staff recognizes each young child’s need for close, consistent, supportive relationships with caretakers. Our staff-child ratio is carefully monitored and class schedules are planned so that children are with the same teachers each day. Our staff turnover is low and our teachers and assistants are required to have a firm foundation in Child Development knowledge. Each staff member must have completed a required number of academic classes, have had experience in the classroom and must continue their educational experiences through workshops, conferences and in-service training.

We welcome you and your child to Everglades Academy Preschool. We have a wonderful program (The Creative Curriculum®) accompanied by a compassionate staff that is committed to providing quality childcare.

teachers

We are an individually owned and operated preschool, so each child and each family receives personal attention. Our teachers create a caring and loving environment for your child, ensuring that each child receives individualized care.

We are proud to report that we have a low staff turnover rate. This means that our teachers like it here, giving your child a sense of stability.

Our teachers are professional, experienced educators that meet or exceed the criteria set by the Department of Children and Families. Our teachers are trained in CPR and are First Aid certified. All of our staff members have cleared background screening in both local and national levels. They are dedicated, passionate and most importantly, are focused on stimulating the strengths of every student.

OUR CLASSROOMS

The most important development in the brain happens before the age of five. All of our programs are designed to take advantage of that early developmental stage and have been tailored to make the most of these crucial growing years. Our Pre-K program is a Kindergarten Readiness program that has been developed to offer those going into Kindergarten a full head-start. We also offer the States’ Voluntary Pre-K program (VPK)

We offer enrichment programs including science, cooking, art, fine and gross motor development and so much more. We promote writing, math and pre-reading programs offered in small groups for more individualized instruction.
